You!

The first time I went to a blogging conference, I had no idea how to introduce myself. Over the three days, I fumbled for the right words: "I'm Joy. Uh...I have a blog?" Well, everyone there had a blog!

Finally, I looked around and noticed that others had it down: name + blog name + what set their blog apart. The magic formula, it seemed.

The next time, I got clear on what I had to offer--and that's when brands began to take interest.

Being able to clearly and succinctly tell people what you're about is especially vital online, where you only have a fraction of a second to make an impression. If you've been following us on Instagram, you know that this week we're talking about getting clear on who you are so that you can draw people in and develop connections more easily.

Our 4 favorite actionable strategies to defining who you are and what you're about on social media. This is the easiest way to fast track connections, so that people can quickly decide to follow you.

Our 4 favorite actionable strategies to defining who you are and what you're about on social media. This is the easiest way to fast track connections, so that people can quickly decide to follow you.

Here are our 4 favorite actionable strategies:

  • Be clear on what you have to offer in your social media profiles. For example, our Facebook cover contains the who, what, when, and where of The Hello Sessions, so that anyone landing on our page will know what we're about.
  • Think of each post as a gift to your audience. Make sure that you're delivering value consistently. And change it up! If you brought your girlfriend a gift card for her birthday...and then Christmas...and then to congratulate her on a new job, eventually she'd get bored, right?
  • Sketch out your ideal reader or customer and craft every single piece of content around that person. Become BFFs with your ideal reader/client. You'll be spending a LOT of time talking to her, sending her links and pics, and making her feel adored.
  • Focus in on your ultimate goal. Do you want more customers, or just more followers? Deciding now will help to keep you on track and prevent you from melting down over the details.

From here on out, we'll be posting tips like these under weekly themes. Next up: how to do MORE in less time so that you can get back to that work-life-balance resolution you made in January!

With love,
Joy, Melissa, and The Hello Sessions Team

P.S. Our awesome speakers will be walking you through more actionable strategies like these at The Hello Sessions this October! We know you're already inspired--we want to help you develop the skills, strategies, plans to turn that inspiration into reality, through our hands-on workshops.
